HERCULES Travel Package includes:
This Travel Package is available every Thursday from March 15th until November 1st 2012.
Itinerary
of HERCULES Travel Package:
1st
day: As soon as you arrive at the airport
of Athens, you will be met by our representative
and transferred to your hotel. Rest of the day in
Athens at leisure.
2nd
day: Breakfast and morning at leisure. In the afternoon you will be transferred from your hotel to the port of Piraeus, and you will embark on your cruise-ship (the Louis Cristal or similar) for the wonderful Greece & Turkey 8-days 7-nights Cruise. Enjoy your evening and night with many special programs onboard, as you are cruising towards Istanbul.
3rd day: In the afternoon you will arrive at the exotic Turkish city of Istanbul. As you approach Istanbul from the sea, the graceful minarets of countless mosques appear on the horizon and the Islamic call to prayer carries over the water. Istanbul's blend of East and West has resulted in some of the most magnificent architecture in the world, including the Agia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, and the Topkapi palace. Evening at leisure, or take the optional "Istanbul By Night" tour.
4th day: Enjoy an excursion to the wonders of Istanbul, take a scenic Bosphorus cruise, bargain at the numerous markets, or combine all the above! You will have plenty of time to explore this amazing city, until your ship will sail at 5:00 PM in the evening.
5th day: In the afternoon you will arrive at the Turkish port of Izmir, where you can take an excursion to visit the fascinating Ancient city of Ephessus. Here history truly comes to life, as you will see architectural masterpieces like the Magnesian Gate and the Library of Celsus, before arriving at the Great Amphitheater where St. Paul was arrested.
6th day: Early in the morning you will arrive at the Patmos island, site of the apocalyptic Revelations of St. John the Divine. Visit the cave where he lived, the Grotto of the Apocalypse, and also the Monastery which houses priceless icons and manuscripts, and enjoy the most breathtaking views from the island's highest point.
Continue your cruise with a visit to the cosmopolitan island of Mykonos, where you will stay until the night. Mykonos is known for its graphic paved streets with hundreds of boutiques and Cycladic art shops. Beneath its sophisticated surface, lies a quintessential Greek Island. Hundreds of tiny chapels dot the island and sheep graze in the shadow of white-washed windmills. Find a table on the waterfront and bask in the serenity of sunset over the picturesque harbor.
7th day: You will spend the whole day (early morning until evening) in Rhodes, the beautiful "Island of Roses", which has a rich and varied history. On a hill above the charming town of Lindos rises an ancient acropolis dedicated to the goddess Athena. Below lies the bay of St. Paul, where the apostle landed during his voyages. The crusading Knights of St. John left the medieval city of Rhodes behind when they were defeated by Sultan Suleyman the Magnificent. The Turks then occupied Rhodes for almost 400 years leaving mosques, minarets and a Turkish bath to mark their presence!
8th day: Early in the morning you will arrive at the port of Heraklion, the capital of Crete island. Heraklion is just 3 miles away from the fantastic ruins of the Palace of Knossos. Discovered in 1899 by Sir Arthur Evans and partially reconstructed, the elaborate Palace is believed to be the mythical Labyrinth of King Minos and the seat of ancient Minoan culture. The Archaeological Museum in Heraklion displays many of the treasures found during the excavations. Continue your cruise with a visit to the island of Santorini, the most breathtaking and beautiful of all the Greek Islands! This is the ideal place for enjoying the most romantic sunsets. Santorini's white-washed houses, narrow streets, open-air cafes and glittering boutiques cling to steep cliff, accessible by cable-car or donkey. To the south is Akrotiri, where recent Minoan excavations support the theories that Santorini might be the fabled lost continent of Atlantis!
9th day: In the morning you will arrive at the port of Piraeus, and transferred to the center of Athens for taking
the half-day
Athens Sightseeing Tour. You will visit the most famous sights of Athens, including
a visit to the spectacular Acropolis. In the afternoon you will be dropped-off at your hotel in Athens.
Evening at leisure, and overnight.
10th day: After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your
return flight (or you can extend
your stay in Athens for as long as you like!).
